Homemade preserves, strawberry and rhubarb jam with ginger

Strawberries and rhubarb are available at the same time, which is probably why they are a natural combination that is often found in recipes. Strawberry rhubarb jam is a classic, but when we add a piece of grated ginger, we get a unique jam.


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg of rhubarb (stems with skin)
  • 1 kg of strawberries
  • 15 g of grated fresh ginger
  • juice of 1 lemon 350 g of sugar (it can be more, depending on the sweetness of the strawberries)

PERFORMANCE

  1. Wash the strawberries, stalk them and cut them into pieces. Wash the rhubarb stalks, do not peel them, cut them into cubes.
  2. Put chopped strawberries and rhubarb into a large pot, add grated ginger, lemon juice and sugar.
  3. Simmer, stirring frequently for several hours. When the jam thickens, pour it hot into the scalded jars, screw it on and pasteurize.
