Inverted apple and caramel cake, i.e. upside down cake. Autumn delicious dessert with fruit and salted caramel
Cake with spices, baked apples and caramel sauce, the perfect dessert for consolation!

What is an inverted dough? It is nothing more than an "upside down" cake, which is what was at the bottom of the pan before baking, after baking and turning it over, it is at the top.

INGREDIENTS for a 26 cm mold
APPLE IN CARAMEL
- 70 g of butter
- 125 g dark muscovado sugar
- pinch of salt
- 3 - 4 apples
CAKE
- 250 g of type 500 flour
- 1 level teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 flat teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- pinch of salt
- 125 g soft butter
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 150 ml of thick natural yoghurt
- orange peel
PERFORMANCE
APPLE IN CARAMEL
- Slice the apples into thin slices or semi-slices.
- Cook the butter with sugar and a pinch of salt for about 3 minutes over medium heat, until the sugar is dissolved and caramel is formed.
- Pour the caramel onto the bottom of an airtight mold lined with baking paper.
- Put the apple slices on the caramel, trying to create a fancy pattern.
CAKE
- In one bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cardamom and salt.
- Add the grated orange peel to the dry ingredients and mix.
- In the second bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time to the butter, whisking them all the time after each addition.
- Add dry ingredients alternating with yoghurt in three portions - start and finish with dry ingredients.
- Preheat the oven to 175 ° C.
- Pour the dough into a mold, directly on the apples and caramel.
- Place the mold with the dough on an oven tray lined with baking paper. Thanks to this, if the mold is leaking, it will be easier to collect the leaking caramel.
- Bake the dough for 40 - 45 minutes, until the stick is dry.
- Take the dough out of the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
- Keeping in mind that there is hot caramel on the bottom, turn the dough over to a large dish.
- Cool dough can be served with ice cream, whipped cream and thick yoghurt.
